The Human Torso

The three-dimensional unique leather sculptures are created using casts from human and hand-sculpted models.  The original leather sculpture is reproduced by hand and upon completion appears mask-like and is light weight unlike heavy bronze, cement, clay etc. The art work is extremely portable, easy to hang and display in wonderful places with only a small nail.  Yet very durable and rigid.  

The art work allows the eye to revel in imagination through its life-like dimension achieved by leaving the  natural beauty of the leather show through.   The beauty of leather as well as the beauty of the human torso commands that each piece be an original in itself and cannot be duplicated by the artist.  

 Originally the sculptures Rick had produced have had an ancient Roman/Greek look to them.  The art work has now taken on a more modern look, in addition to the old, with creative embellishments and contemporary poses.  The newest development includes  leather torsos mounted in or on frames hanging or free standing on their own wooden bases.  These sculptures are typically in the mid-size range suitable for any where in the home or office as well as the limited wall real estate some art collectors have available.   

In addition, Rick has introduced Giclée prints of selected original leather torso sculptures which are numbered 1 - 99.
